Charcoal Collective is an on going series of created situations where people gather together to make artist charcoal. It is an experience for the viewer and artist to work together to better themselves and in turn to benefit their direct community. My intention is to express this idea of the importance of art in society, art being expanded beyond the gallery, tearing down the hierarchy of artist to society, exposing the strand from an art piece directly into the viewer's reality, and awakening ones senses when faced with art. The most authentic way to express these concepts is through creating an actual experience for viewers to join in, learn, and create for themselves and others. Any individual is welcome to come, learn, and enjoy a technique for creating one of the most basic and commonly used mediums, this being charcoal.
