  • SAY HI
Eight Eighty Eight is a project addressing the value in human connection and identifying the energy and expression lost between people through the use of today's growing technology.  Focusing specifically on the study of synergy between strangers, I us interpersonal implications of trust, communication, personal space, social norms, collaboration, and the act of giving through simple actions.

My collaborator, Nichole Gawalis, and I traveled the west coast with a typewriter, a scroll of paper, and instant film.  We asked people to type anything they wanted on the scroll, while they typed, a picture was taken, the date was written and they left with a photo.

Glorifying a moment between strangers becomes solidified by the exchange between participant and artist. A memory is being made through the act of physically typing candid thoughts at that very moment and walking away with a photo of what physically  surrounded us at that moment.

The outcome of the work was dependent on the unique individuals who participated.  As many times as this process is repeated, it will never be the same.
